Jack Crosse, 22, was cleared of raping one alleged victim but the jury failed to agree verdicts on two charges relating to a second woman after a week-long trial from incidents that happened at a boozy Christmas party in 2019
A teacher was cleared today of raping a woman at a boozy Christmas party in a gym after drinking at the free bar.
Jack Crosse, 32, a maths teacher, was ‘very drunk’ when he allegedly committed sex attacks on two women at the gym party three years ago.
He was cleared of raping one alleged victim but the jury failed to agree verdicts on two charges relating to a second woman after a week-long trial.
Cardiff Crown Court heard prosecutors must decide whether they hold a retrial on the outstanding allegations against Mr Crosse.
Mr Crosse, a keen weightlifter, claimed sex with both women at the gym in Pontypool, Gwent, in December 2019 was consensual.
Prosecutor Clair Wilks said: ‘During the night he was drinking alcohol and he was seen by several witnesses acting in a sexually inappropriate way.
The gym turned into a dancefloor and there was a free bar on the night three years ago where Mr Crosse allegedly sexually assaulted two women
The jury were told tickets for the party included free drinks and the gym floor had been turned into a dancefloor for the night of festivities.
Mr Crosse, of Caerphilly, South Wales, denied rape.
