Parents seethe as children are ‘told to pee in BUCKETS’ when their school is locked down for up to four hours

  • Parents furious after kids were forced to pee in bucket during a school lockdown
  • An incident with another student caused the four hour school shutdown
  • The threat was significant enough for kids to not be allowed to use the toilet

Parents claim their children had to urinate in buckets while their school was put into lockdown over a mysterious incident.

Police were not called to intervene on Monday despite it being serous enough that children were not allowed to access the bathroom.

Werrington County Public School in western Sydney was criticised by angry parents after they heard what their children went through.

Scott, told 2GB radio he had no problem with the school locking kids in classrooms, but asked why the police were not called.

‘If they thought it was a serious enough incident to lock them in classrooms and make them urinate in buckets, surely they would have called the police,’ he said.

Scott claimed the lockdown was caused by a ‘mentally ill student who had had an episode’.

Another parent, Nicole, who has a son with special needs, claimed the young student was known to threaten kids with a skipping rope.

Principal Belinda Clarke sent a letter about the incident to parents saying the lockdown went for two hours.

‘The safety of our students and staff was our main priority during this time. At no point during the lockdown were any of our students or staff at risk of harm,’ the letter read.

‘During the lockdown, teachers reassured the students that they were safe and continued teaching and learning.

‘Following the lockdown, students had an indoor lunch and only essential movement around the school was permitted.’

But Amanda, who has three kids at the school, said her children were in lockdown from about 11am as recess started, until 3pm.

‘The kids were not told what was happening… my daughter actually started crying because she didn’t know what was happening,’ Amanda said.

One parent said kids came home saying, 'mum, mum they made us pee in a bucket'.

She also claimed one of her children refused to use the bucket other students had urinated in, but her other kids had to, as they were about to ‘wet their pants’.

Nicole asked why they were not informed about their kids having to pee in a bucket, as kids came home that day telling their parents about it.

‘Mum, mum they made us pee in a bucket,’ Nicole said her children told her.

The office of the NSW Education Minister initially denied the claims.

But Education Minister Sarah Mitchell told 2GB she was ‘incredibly unhappy’ at the lack of information coming out of the Department of Education.

‘I’ve had very strong conversations already this morning with senior staff of the Department, I want a full investigation,’ she said.

‘What has gone on here is totally unacceptable, it’s not in line with normal protocol.’
