Several Jangebe Schoolgirls have shared some of the things they went through while under the captivity of the armed bandits who kidnapped them from their school on the 26th of February.
Many of them revealed that some members of the bandits asked for their hands in marriage and promised to call them to find out if they agree to the proposal or not.
The Jangebe Schoolgirls told sources that the bandits advised them to quit school and get married instead.
According to one of the girls, Hassatu Umar Anka;
When we were about to be released, some of them came and starting pointing at us and saying, ‘We love some of you and we want to marry you if you would accept our proposal’. You shouldn’t be wasting your time schooling
The Jangebe girls were released to the Zamfara State Government on the 2nd of March and sources say some “repentant” bandits helped in the negotiation process which ensured their safe release.
President Buhari expressed his delight after the girls were released and vowed that such an incident won’t happen again in a statement via the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika.
