Why I left out Sergio Ramos from Spain’s Euro 2020 squad – Spain’s coach Luis Enrique!


Spain’s captain, Sergio Ramos has been left out of the squad that will represent the country at the Euros this summer.

In defense of his decision to drop Real Madrid’s captain from the squad, said he has not been able to compete in the right condition this year.

“I would like to make a special mention of Sergio Ramos, our captain, He has not been able to compete in the right condition since January, I spoke to him yesterday night.”

“It is difficult and tough. I hope he regains his level”


“We have talked a lot about the decision on Sergio Ramos, I have to stick with what is best for the National Team, My admiration for him as always been clear.”

Sergio Ramos has only featured in  21 games in the just-concluded 2020/ 2021 season due to injury.

He was part of the Spamish squad that won the Euros in 2008 and 2012 as well as the FIFA World Cup in 2010.

His absence mean no Real Madrid player will be in the Spanish squad.
