The Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Buhari, Mr. Garba Shehu has revealed why his principal didn’t attend the burial of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru.
The Chief of Army Staff alongside 11 other senior and junior officers died after their in a fatal plane crash on Friday near the Kaduna International Airport.
The Army Chief and other Muslim officers on board were buried 24 hours later according to Islamic rites at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja.
President Buhari’s absence from the burial ceremony was received with criticism especially on social media.
However, Mr. Garba Shehu has now revealed why the President was absent. According to him, his boss didn’t attend because he didn’t want to cause traffic on major roads in Abuja.

When asked who the next Chief of Army Staff will be, Mr. Shehu said it is left for the President to decide.
