As we all know, the Best Actress in a Drama in Movie or television series is the biggest award at the AMVCA. There are several people who argue that at 56-years-old this is the last chance for Sobowale to claim an AMVCA award as her career is slowly winding down.
However, it is not a charity award and based on merit Sobowale should be victorious given the production and performance she mustered to make the King of Boys movie a success.
Credit should go to the producer and Director Kemi Adetiba and other supporting acts such as Adesua Etomi Wellington, Toni Tones and Remilekun ‘Reminisce’ Safaru, however, it is safe to say that Sobowale carried that movie and her performance registered in the minds of viewers which led to social media buzz.
Sobowale will face competition for the award from Zainab Balogun in Sylvia and God Calling also Toyin Abraham from Elevator Baby and Kate Henshaw from The Ghost And The House Of Truth however she should emerge victoriously and add the AMVCA crown to the Africa Movie Academy Awards she won in Best Actress in a Leading Role category for her performance in King of Boys.
