Victor Osimhen’s brother, Andrew Osimhen has revealed why his brother choosed Napoli ahead of Manchester United even though the 13-time English Champions wanted him.
He said Victor Osimhen didn’t sign for the Red Devils because he didn’t want to compete with Odion Ighalo who he regarded as his older brother in the same club.
It is very true that Manchester United wanted Victor but he told me something like he had too much respect for Odion Ighalo to be competing for shirts with his senior colleague,” Andrew Osimhen told Complete Sports.
“My brother holds Ighalo in high esteem and he just didn’t see himself going to Old Trafford to battle for a striking role with the highest goal-scorer at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.”
Victor Osimhen joined Napoli joined Napoli for a fee reported to be in the region of €70m after the 21-year-old enjoyed a blistering form for Ligue 1 side, Lille where he bagged 18 goals and six assists in 38 games.
He also settled well into his new club having scored six goals (hattricks) in the club’s pre-season friendly matches against L’Aquila and Teramo respectively.
