3 reasons why Chelsea must be afraid of Sheffield United even though the “Blades” are currently blunt!

3 reasons why Chelsea must be afraid of Sheffield United even though the "Blades" are currently blunt! 2

The last few days have been good for Chelsea in all competitions with victories over Krasnodar and Rennes in the Champions League as well as an impressive 3 nil win away at Turf Moor last weekend.

The Blues are also yet to concede in five games – a feat considered weird this season considering the truckloads of goals they shipped in a few weeks ago.

The introduction of Senegalese goalkeeper, Edouard Mendy has been instrumental to the Blues defensive line. The 28-year-old is yet to concede in about 460 minutes.

Ahead of Sheffield United’s visit this afternoon, Chelsea will look to continue their impressive form as they look to secure maximum points against the Blades who have only managed a point in 7 games so far this season in the league.

On paper, Frank Lampard’s side should get the job done – a comfortable victory but they need to to be afraid given that:

  1. Sheffield United are among four clubs against which Chelsea has lost more Premier League games than they have won. They have won three and lost four against the Blades. The other sides include Oldham Athletic (W0, L3), Arsenal (W 19, L20), Liverpool( W20, L23).
  2. The Blades are unbeaten against Chelsea in the last two Premier League games. (W1, D1).
  3. Chelsea has conceded precisely two goals in their last six Premier League home games against Sheffield United. So, Edouard Mendy’s clean sheets might be under threat.

We don’t know where the pendulum will swing to in this match which should be interesting but one thing is for sure, they will be plenty of goals.
