Victor Osimhen was on target for Napoli as the recently-dethroned Serie A champions were held to a two-all draw by Roma on Sunday evening.
The Super Eagles striker was involved in the match from the very start and had a couple of chances to give the home side the opener but failed to convert on two occasions.
His first chance came on the 7th minute via a cross into the box but his header lacked direction as it went off target.
Osimhen had another chance on the 18th minute but his first-time shot from the edge of the box towards the middle of goal was comfortably saved by Roma’s goalie, Miles Svilar.
However, Osimhen eventually found the back of the net on the 84th minute via a penalty kick. Osimhen ran a little, stopped and waited for Mile Svilar to commit before sending the ball to the opposite direction to give Napoli the lead late in the game.
However, just when home fans thought that their star striker had given them the winner, Tammy Abraham scored the equalizer from a corner-kick late in the game after a Var decision.
Osimhen, despite his struggles with injury and presence at AFCON 2023 has 14 league goals as Napoli’s piss poor form continues with four matches to the end of the season.
The Nigerian striker currently has 16 goals in all competitions.
