The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have retained their regional West Africa Football Union (Zone B) title after defeating archrivals Ghana on Wednesday evening.
The Nigeria under-20 side edged Ghana 2-1 at Stade De Kegue, Lome to successfully defend their title in style.
Beyond Limits Academy striker Kparobo Arierhi bagged a brace in the match and was awarded Player of the Match for his brilliant performance.
Arierhi gave Nigeria the lead on the 33rd minute via a well-placed left footed strike from the edge of the Black Satellites’ box.
The young striker got to the end of a deft pass on the edge of the box before burying a ferocious striker into the roof of the net to double the lead for Nigeria a fee moments later.
The second half started with the Black Satelites pressing to get into the game and they did eventually as they halved the deficit midway into the second half.
The Flying Eagles held on to their lead despite pressure from the Black Satelites as they retained their title.
Asides emerging champions, the Aliyu Zubairu’s Flying Eagles also sealed qualification for the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations billed for South Africa next year.
