Super Eagles defender back Oluwasemilogo Ajayi will be out of action for four months after suffering a hamstring injury.
Semi Ayai was substituted on the 79th against Cardiff in a championship match last week.
Westbrom’s coach Carlos Coberán confirmed that Ajayi broke his muscle in two parts while speaking on Thursday.
“Semi, unfortunately, has suffered a more difficult injury. It was an action which was an accident. In this action, he has broken his muscle in two parts”
“The best way to manage this injury is with surgery because surgery helps reduce the risk of suffering this type of injury again,” the West Brom coach continued.”
“There are injuries which affect the tendon in specific areas where you have to have surgery. The surgery delays things by around two weeks, but it also reduces the risk of the injury reoccurring.
“Returning in about 16 weeks is the approximate time when you have this type of surgery.”
Semi Ajayi is one of coach Carlos Coberán important players witg 12 appearances so this season.
The defender will miss Super Eagles remaining fixtures in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
