Nigeria senior women’s football team, the Super Falcons settled for a draw against Portugal in an international friendly match on Monday.
The encounter took place at the 9,000 capacity Estadio Jose Gomes in Amadora.
The Super Falcons lined-up a strong squad with Rasheedat Ajibade, Francisca Ordega, Christy Ucheibe and Jennifer Echegini.
Nigeria came into the match on the back of a 2-0 win over Cameroon in Abeokuta earlier in the month while Portugal were on a four-game losing streak.
Chiamaka Nnadozie had a stellar performance on between the sticks as made a couple of saves to keep the Super Falcons in the game.
Nigeria could have stole a late win. Francisca Ordega caught the Portugese goalkeeper off her line with a looping ball but it came off the crossbar.
The match, unlike the first-ever meeting between Nigeria and Portugal ended goalless as the Super Falcons intensify preparation for next month’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
