CAF Pick Esther Okoronkwo Over Babajide As Woman of the Match

Esther Okoronkwo picked up the Woman of the Match award in Nigeria’s victory over Tunisia on Sunday.

The Super Falcons started their 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign with an impressive 3-0 win over the North Africans.

Veteran striker Asisat Oshoala gave the Super Falcons the lead in the fourth minute courtesy of Rinsola Babajide’s sublime cross from a free-kick.

The 27-year-old forward doubled the lead just before halftime as she found her way into the box before unleashing a strike into the bottom corner.

However, despite a goal and an assist in the win, substitute Esther Okoronkwo was named Woman of the Match over Rinsola Babajide.

Okoronkwo had a quite impressive outing in the second half as she provided the assist to Chiwendu Ihezuo’s goal.

The 27-year-old forward made dashing runs and overloads on the flanks and served as an option in the final third as the Super Falcons put up a better performance in the second half.
