Osimhen Sinks Liverpool To Set Champions League Record

Victor Osimhen wrote in his name in the history books of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Super Eagles striker scored the only goal of the match as Galatasaray stuns Liverpool in a resolute performance.

Osimhen converted a first half penalty as he buried the ball down the middle of the net to put the host ahead.

The 26-year-old striker was a handful for Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate for over one hour in the tie as kept the two big men on their toes.

Osimhen had other chances to probably bag a hat trick but Allison Becker made two brilliant saves to deny him.

Victor Osimhen’s goal sealed the win for the Turkish champions over Liverpool as they bounced back from their opening night 5-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Meanwhile, Osimhen is now the first Nigerian to reach double figures -10 in goals in the UEFA Champions League.

Osimhen was joint on record with former Inter Milan striker Obafemi Martins with nine goals before the match against the Reds.
