Manchester City Escape Iwobi, Chukwueze’s Onslaught In Nine-goal Thriller

Super Eagles duo Samuel Chukwueze and Alex Iwobi got in the scoresheet on Tuesday night as Manchester City escaped from Heaven Cottage with maximum points after a thrilling encounter.

Chukwueze continued his recent run of brilliant form for Fulham as he got involved in the goals not once but twice.

Manchester City tore the home side into shreds as they took a 3-0 lead within 44 minutes as Erling Haaland reached 100 Premier League goals.

Former Arsenal midfielder, Emile Smith-Rowe pulled a goal back for Fulham just before the break as he powered a header from Harry Wilson into the back of the net.

However, Smith-Rowe’s goal didn’t ignite a Fulham resurgence as Phil Foden and an unfortunate Sander Berge’s own goal increased Manchester City’s lead to 5-1.

Super Eagles Alex Iwobi pounced on a loose ball from Manchester City’s box and powered a curler into the bottom corner to reduce the deficit.

Samuel Chukwueze’s introduction almost turned the tire around with less than 20 minutes to the end of the tie.

The AC Milan loanee was in the right place at the right time in the box as he rifled a left-footed strike into the bottom corner from a loose ball.

Six minutes later, Chukwueze powered another left-footed strike from outside the box off a corner-kick to make the score line 5-4.

Manchester City held on to the narrow lead for the remainder of the game as they left West London with maximum points after an enthralling encounter.

In other results, Christian Romero’s 95th minute goal rescued Tottenham Hotspur from defeat away at Newcastle United.

Anthony Gordon converted an 85th minute penalty to put the hosts within a few minutes of sealing the win but Romero scored a stunning overhead kick to pick a point for underfire manager Thomas Frank.

Everton recorded back-to-back away wins in the Premier League as the Toffees beat Bournemouth away at the Vitality Stadium.

The tie was heading for what looked like a stalemate until former Aston Villa and Manchester City forward Jack Grealish scored the winner in the 78th minute.
