NPFL: Rangers, Rivers Push Title Chase To Final Day

The 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League title will be decided on the final day after Rivers United and Enugu Rangers secured points on Sunday evening.

Defending champions Rivers United cane from came from a 2-1 deficit to clinch a 3-2 win over Wikki Tourists in Bauchi.

Enugu Rangers were hoping to celebrate the title in front of their home fans with the hope that Rivers United dropped points away at Wikilki Tourist.

The Flying Antelopes secured a 2-1 win over Bendel Insurance courtesy of Godwin Obaje’s brace but the win wasn’t enough to clinch the title after Rivers United”s win.

Rivers United and Enugu Rangers remain in contention to win the title going into the final day of the season.

Enugu Rangers currently have a point lead over Rivers United. A win for both sides will see Rangers win their ninth title.

Rivers United need to win over Katsina United and hope that Enugu Rangers drop points away at Ikorodu City to retain their title.

Meanwhile, Bayelsa United and Wikki Tourists have been relegated from the league after their losses on Sunday.

Remo Stars boats their survival hope with a 2-1 win over Bayelsa United while Kun Khalifat took an important leap off the drop zone with a 2-0 win away at Abia Warriors.
