Nigeria’s Super Falcons rounded off their two-part friendly match against Senegal with a convincing win on Monday evening.
Nottingham Forest striker Joy Omewa bagged a brace on her debut appearance for the 10-time African champions.
The first half was a shadow of the second as the host struggled to find their rhythm and it ended goalless.
However, the match came alive in the second as Nigeria blew their guests apart 3-0 under the downpour in Ikenne.
Joy Omewa put the Super Falcons ahead a few minutes into the second half with a header from a precise Shukurat Oladipo cross from the right flank.
The 23-year-old striker pounced on an error by a Senegalese defender and buried the ball into the roof of the net to double the lead.
Veteran striker and six-time CAF Women’s Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala came off the bench to add the third as Nigeria sealed back-to-back wins over Senegal.
The friendly matches are in line with the team’s preparation for next month’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations set to be hosted by Morocco between July 25 and August 16.
Nigeria are defending champions and will look to win again on Moroccan soil after beating the hosts in a dramatic final to lift their 10th title last summer.
