Tolu Arokodare scored his fourth goal in a row in Ajax’s loss to defending champions PSV in the Eredivisie on on Saturday night.
The Super Eagles striker restored parity for the home side after Ricardo Pepi’s opener five minutes after the blast of the first whistle.
Pepi placed a header beyond the reach of Marc ter Stergen off a brilliant cross from Ruben van Bommel.
The lead lasted until the 23rd minute when Arokodare maintained composure in the box he looped the ball into the bottom corner to register his second goal innthe league.
Unfortunately, Ajax fell to a 3-1 loss to the visitors courtesy of goals from Dutch defender Lutsharel Geertruida and young Bosnian forward Esmir Bajraktarevic who scored in added time of regulation time.
Meanwhike, Arokodare gas now scored five goals in seven appearances for Ajax since he joined from Wolverhamptoon Wanderers on loan during the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old will look to make a return to the Super Eagles ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nation’s later this month.
With doubts surrounding Osimhen’s availability, Arokodare stands a good chance of making Eric Chelle’s squad for the qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
Arokodare marked his debut for the Super Eagles in a 2–0 away victory against Rwanda during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on March 21, 2025.
He has played nine times since then and has two goals.
