Awoniyi Bags Sports Directorship Degree From PFA Business School.

Coventry City striker Taiwo Awoniyi has added to his academic qualification aftercompleting his Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship with Merit from the PFA Business School.

The players’ union confirmed the news on its official X account on Tuesday evening, congratulating the Super Eagles forward on the achievement.

Awoniyi enrolled on the programme in March 2025 while still at Nottingham Forest, a move he described at the time as part of his preparation for life after football.

The course, co-directed by former Spain international and ex-Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta alongside Les Reed, is designed to equip aspiring sporting directors with specialised training in the technical and administrative sides of the modern game.

The diploma adds to an academic résumé Awoniyi has steadily built alongside his playing career. He already holds a diploma in Business Administration and Marketing Management and has been working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration through online study, underlining his long-term ambitions beyond the pitch.

Awoniyi’s graduation comes just months after completing a summer move to Coventry City from Nottingham Forest, joining his countryman Frank Onyeka as the club look to establish themselves back in the top flight after 25 years away.
