Europa League: Super Eagles Joe Aribo seeks 10th goal of the season as Rangers look to overturn a 2 goal deficit against Leverkusen.
Super Eagles Midfielder, Joe Aribo will.look to get his 10th goal of the season as Steven Gerard-led Rangers look to overturn a 2 goal deficit against Bayern Leverkusen later tonight in the second leg of their round of sixteen clash at the Bay Arena.
Aribo was on for 53 minutes as the Gers lost 1-3 at home to Leverkusen just before the competition went on break as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak in March.
While speaking to the media yesterday, Steven Gerard said it’s going to be a difficult tie but his team is ready to give it their all as they look to get into quarter-finals where they will either take on Inter Milan or Getafe.
The former Liverpool legend said;
“We just need to focus on the game and the challenge in front of us. We know our fans back home will be supporting in their numbers and hopefully, we can give them a performance to be proud of.
“We have prepared in pre-season with no fans and we played at the weekend [at Aberdeen] with no fans and up to now, the performances have been really strong, so hopefully we can continue to build on those performances tomorrow.
On the flip side, Joe Aribo is having a brilliant season especially in the competition with 4 goals including qualifying. He has 3 goals and 8 assists in 27 league appearances for the Gers this season as well as 1 goal each in the league cup and the Scottish FA Cup.
The 24-year-old midfielder most likely will start in the heart of midfield or in the right midfield position depending on Steven Gerrard set-up his team tonight. He boasts of a 100% starting record when fit and has contributed 16% of Rangers’ goal this season.
