Passport delaying Luis Suarez’s Juventus switch from Barcelona

Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez is all but gone from Spanish giants Barcelona but his impending move to Juventus in Italy is only being held up by an issue with his passport.

The striker has been told by new Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman that he is no longer wanted at the club, and a agreement over a switch to Juventus is said to be very close but La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Suarez will need to take a test to obtain a permit to live and work in Italy.

In Spain he has benefited from the Italian passport of his wife Sofia Balbi, but in Italy the passport of a spouse is not enough for an individual to be considered European.

As well as Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid have also expressed interest in the 33-year-old.

If he does move to Turin, he will link up once more with former Barcelona team-mate Arthur Melo.
