Barcelona will always be your home, President bids farewell to Atletico-bound Suarez

Josep Maria Bartomeu, Barcelona’s president led the farewell ceremony for Luis Suarez after it was confirmed that the Uruguayan striker will join Atletico Madrid, following six seasons with the Catalans.

“In the name of all the Cules, thank you very much for these six years” said the president to the player who said goodbye amidst tears. “I hope the future continues to be as good as good as it has been up to now.”

“May you be very happy. Barca will always be your home. The day you decide to stop playing football, I hope we can have a tribute and farewell match with all the public when this pandemic is over”.

Bartimeu praised “the charisma and the human dimension of a player we needed. And when he arrived, was aware that the bet of the club on him was firm and decisive. Luis has contributed a lot, both with his goals and with his fighting spirit and character”.

Barcelona begin a new era under Ronald Koeman after an underwhelming performance last season with Suarez following the footsteps of Arturo Vidal and Nelson Semedo among others out of the Camp Nou.
