Former Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has hit out at the club, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Manchester City for giving their consent to the about to be formed European Super League.

Gary Neville said the club owners have no interest in the game in the country but they are only concerned about making money. The former English right-back added that European Super League will kill the spirit of competition and fairness of football.

In his words,

“We are amid a pandemic, an economic crisis, clubs at the bottom of the national league are folding, and these owners are on zoom calls talking about more money. It’s pure greed. It’s an absolute joke.”

“The owners of all of these clubs are imposters. They have nothing to do with football in this country. They’re bottle merchants. You never hear from the owner of these clubs. They have no voice.”

“Manchester United, Spurs, and Arsenal are not even in the Champions League. Arsenal is a shambles of a club and they expect a gods given right to go into the European Super league? It’s disgusting. Deduct points. Deduct money. Punish them.”

The European Super League consists of about 20 top clubs which will compete in a no relegation league format and it is set to commence in the 2023-2024 season.
