Tokyo Olympics: Nigeria’s medals hope shrink as Offiong Edem crashes out!

Nigeria’s hope of winning a medal or more at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics continues to shrink as more athletes continue to crash out of their events.

The latest is Table Tennis star Offiong Edem who lost to world number 34, Lily Zhang of the United States in the early hours of Monday.

Offiong Edem, who started the match quite well as she took the set, lost failed to replicate her brilliant first set performance as she lost the remaining four sets (13-11,2-11,2-11,8-11,6-11).

Edem’s loss now leaves Haruna Quadri as Nigeria’s sole representative in the Table Tennis event after Funke Oshonnaike and Olajide Omotayo crashed out over the weekend.

Aruna Quadri who is ranked 15th will take on Brazil’s Gustavo Tsuboi of Brazil in the early hours of Tueaday.
