Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland believes that the Teranga Lions of Senegal will be the best African team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Senegal won the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) this year and they are in good form ahead of the Mundial.
In a TikTok video posted by Supersport, Haaland praised the Teranga Lions squad.
“I think Senegal will do really well,” Haaland said.
“They are a strong team and there are so many strong players. I think Senegal will do the best out of the African countries.”
Senegal are in Group A with hosts Qatar, Ecuador and the Netherlands.
The Teranga Lions have qualified for three FIFA World Cups ; Korea/Japan 2002, Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022.
Unfortunately, one of Senegal’s forwards, Keita Balde will miss the tournament for breaching protocols during a drug test in a April.
Keita Balde, who currently plays on loan for Spartak Moscow from Cagliari was handed a three months suspension by the Italian Anti-doping agency.
Although, his tests returned negative but investigation shows that the former Inter Milan forward breached protocols during that period.
The decision to ban Keita was accepted by FIFA given that the Italian Anti-Doping agency is a national anti-doping agency.
