The Super Falcons of Nigeria have started training ahead of their Group B FIFA Women’s World Cup opener against Canada on Friday.
Coach Randy Waldrum’s team are currently training at the training pitch of Lion FC in Brisbane as they intensify preparations for the match.
The Nigerian ladies will go into the match against Canada with some level of confidence after they thrashed Queensland Lions FC 8-1 on Saturday in a friendly match.
The Super Falcons are undefeated against Canada at the FIFA Women’s World Cup having met twice in 1995 and 2011.
The first encounter ended in a 6-goal thriller after both teams scored 3 goals each while the 2011 match-up ended in a 1 nil victory for Nigeria.
Nigeria will look to continue their record against the Canadians when they meet on Friday at the Melbourne at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.
