Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has registered his first goal of the new football season. Lookman scored in Atalanta’s away loss to Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
The 25-year-old restored parity for Atalanta in the 53rd minute as Marten De Roon found him in space inside Fiorentina’s box before he buried the ball into the bottom-left corner of Pietro Terracciano goal.
However, his goal was not enough to recue a point for his side as they suffered their second loss of the season to Fiorentina in a keenly contested 3-2 loss.
Ademola Lookman was instrumental to Atalanta’s 2022/2023 season as he helped them secured an Europa League spot. The wide forward scored 13 goals and provided 8 assists.
The Nigerian, barring injury, will look to replicate his form for his side this season as they hope to finish in the top four thereby qualifying for next season’s UEFA champions League.
Atalanta on the flipside, have started the 2023/2024 Serie A season on the back foot with two losses already in four games. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are currently ninth on the log with six points.
