On Monday, April 12th the Nigerian social media space exploded following the news by Jack Dorsey the founder of Twitter revealed that his company will be setting up their African headquarters in neighboring Ghana.

Microsoft in Nigeria, Kenya

Twitter in Ghana

While Facebook is expected in Nigeria soon.

Twitter chose Ghana as the headquarters because it hosts the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area, is a supporter of free speech, online freedom, and the Open Internet, and a champion for democracy.

Most of the qualities are lacking in Nigeria along with harsh working conditions present such as huge tax laws, no electricity and good roads hence cost of business are high which is why Twitter chose Ghana and most big tech companies moving forward will also do so.
