Alexander Iwobi, on from the start, sparked into life in the 34th minute when he found himself surrounded by an army of defenders in the Fleetwood area but managed to flick a sumptuous backheel to teammate Richarlison to put Everton two goals up at the end of the first half.

At the restart, Fleetwood pulled one goal back in the 48th minute but the two-goal advantage was quickly restored under 60 seconds when Iwobi timed his dash and run into the box to finish a low cross from the left after Calvin-Levert had missed.

Further goals from Bernard and Moise Kean cemented a huge 5-2 win for Everton, their third straight victory since the start of the season, and quelled speculations about Iwobi’s future at Goodison Park for now.
