- Having lost three previous finals, Barcelona were appearing in their fifth Champions League final while Arsenal were playing their first ever final.
Sol Campbell had earlier gave Arsenal the lead in the 37th minute but with less than 15 minutes from regular time, Luciano Belletti and Samuel Eto’o goals gave Barcelona their second Champions League trophy.

Barcelona were handed a new Champions League trophy after Liverpool win their fifth title the previous season thereby giving them the right to keep it.
Andriy Shevchenko finished top scorer that season with 9 goals.
