Napoli boss, Luciano Spalletti has told Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen to learn how to manage his emotion after he was sent off in tge victory over newly-promoted side, Venexia.
Victor Osimhen only spent 23 minutes on the pitch before the referee gave him his marching orders. Osimhen was adjudged to have poked Venezia midfielder Daan Heymans in the face during a tussle near the corner kick line.
Napoli eventually won the game 2 nil courtesy of Lorenzo Isigne and Elif Elma’s second-half strikes. However, Spalletti, while reacting to Osimhen’s red card, said the forward has to be careful and learn how to put his emotions under check.
“Osimhen’s expulsion? He has to be careful of his emotional reactions. He is a strong attacker and all the defenders will try to help themselves by limiting his physical exuberance”
“He will always have his hands on the defenders. He must be careful. The referee was very correct when he explained to me what he saw.”
The red card against Venexia is Osimhen’s second in his career. His first was in a Europa League fixture against Real Sociedad last season.
Victor Osimhen was sent off by English referee, Craig Pawson after he was adjudged to have elbowed Robin Le Normand in an attempt to control David Ospina’s goal kick.
Osimhen is set to miss at least two Serie A games as a result of the red card.
