Besiktas Confirm Wilfred Ndidi’s Injury After World Cup Qualifiers

Besiktas Football Club have provided an update on the injury Wilfred Ndidi sustained while on international duty with the Super Eagles.

Wilfred Ndidi featured in the one-all draw between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Blomfontein in a FIFA World Cup qualifier.

However, the former Leicester City midfielder was substituted in the 70th minute for new Crystal Palace player, Chrisantus Uche after picking up what looked like a muscle injury.

On his return to Turkey after the tie, Besiktas have now confirmed that Wilfred Ndidi has indeed sustained an injury after he was examined at the Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital.

An MRI scan reveal that the 28-year-old midfielder suffered a strain and bleeding in the posterior thigh muscle (semimembranosus) but treatment has commenced immediately.

Wilfred Ndidi is expected to be out for this week’s fixture against Istanbul Basaksehir although the club didn’t reveal the return date of the midfielder.

Since joining Besiktas from Leicester City this summer, Ndidi has featured in four matches for the Turkish Super League side amassing 340 minutes of action.
