OTD in 2019, Brazil beat Peru 3-1 to win Copa America (video)
On July 7th, 2019, Brazil beat Peru 3–1 to win the Copa America home soil.
After beating arch-rivals Argentina in the semifinal, Brazil were already favourites going into the final.
Brazil went in front in the 15th minute through Everton Soares, however, Peru equalized in the 44th minute when captain Paolo Guerrero converted from the penalty spot.
Brazil went back in front three minutes into additional time through Gabriel Jesus and were ahead at the halftime break.
The second half was closely contested and nervy but a penalty converted by Richarlison in the 90th minute earned Brazil the 2019 Copa America in front of 69,968 fans in attendance at the Estádio do Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro.
