Gunmen suspected to be armed bandits/cattle rustlers have abducted an unverified number of Kateina students in Mahuta town, Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The Islamiyya students, according to sources, were allegedly kidnapped on their way back from a quranic lecture by the miscreants to help them push a stolen herd of cows.
However, some of the students escaped, security forces, including local vigilantes, have rescued a good number of them but a pursuit of the bandits is ongoing to rescue the remaining students as at the time of filing this report.
This comes 48 hours after 344 boys were released after they were kidnapped by bandits allegedly affiliated to Boko Haram on the 11th of December.
Sahara Reporters reported that the Katsina State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isah, was contacted but he explained he is on an official assessment outside the state and could not comment on the issue.
