Nigeria’s men senior football team, the Super Eagles have finally ended their five years winless international matches run.
The Super Eagles last won an international friendly match in 2018 and have since gone ahead to play 15 matches with 7 losses and 8 draws.
However, the jinx has finally been broken with a narrow 3-2 victory over the Mambas of Mozambique at the Albufeira Satdium in Portugal.
Despite conceding an early goal, Jose Peseiro’s men restored parity in no time and wwnr ahead to dominate the game with two more goals.
Nice striker, Tarem Moffi equalized for Nigeria in the 19th minute via a rebound in the six yard box as the Mozambique keeper failed to parried Frank Onyeka’s strike.
Frank Onyeka, who had a couple of his shots saved, finally got his goal as he buried a powwrful strike into the net after he was played through on the edge of the box by debutant, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. The first half ended with the Super Eagles leading 2-1 with Mozambique reduced to 10-men.
The second half startws with the Super Eagles in control as they looked to extend their lead however, it was the Mambas who pulled a goal back via Faisal Bangal via a free-kick.
Substitute, Sadiq Umar scored twice bbut both gials were ruled out for infringement of the goalkeeper and offside respectively.
The game ended 3-2 as Jose Peseiro recorded his first win an international friendly for the Super Eagles.
