Italian Serie A side Napoli have excluded Victor Osimhen from the 2024/2025 Serie A squad. The striker will not feature for Antonio Conte’s side in the league.
This comes after the striker initial proposed move to Al Ahli and Chelsea afterwards collapsed before the end of the transfer window on Friday.
Osimhen’s transfer to the Saudi Pro League side didn’t materialise after Napoli hierarchy reportedly demanded for more money after agreeing to an initial €80m fee.
The deal to Chelsea didn’t work at as well because the proposal to Osimhen fell way below his demands according to reports.
Having reportedly handed in a transfer request to leave two seasons after winning the Serie A title, Osimhen’s relationship with Napoli have reportedly gone sour.
Recall that Osimhen, the reigning African Footballer of the Year signed a three-year contract extension with Napoli in December 2023.
Osimhen will not feature for Antonio Conte’s Napoli in the league probably until January when the transfer window reopens.
In addition, his number 9 shirt has also been taken from him and handed over to new signing Romelu Lukaku who reunites with Antonio Conte with whom he won the Serie A title at Inter Milan in 2021.
Osimhen will continue to earn his €253,000 weekly wages at club despite his exclusion from the squad. His only chance of playing will be in the Copa Italia as Napoli failed to secure a ticket to play in Europe this season.
