German Bundesliga side, Union Berlin have confirmed the departure of Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi from the club.
His exit from the club was confirmed via a statement published on the official website of the club on Saturday.
“1. FC Union Berlin’s record Bundesliga goalscorer Taiwo Awoniyi has completed his return to the English Premier League and the Nigerian striker will join newly-promoted Nottingham Forest.”
“The 24-year-old striker arrived at 1. FC Union Berlin from Liverpool on an initial loan deal. His move became permanent a year later as Awoniyi cemented his place in Urs Fischer’s team. He was an ever-present last season – all aside from his spell on international duty – scoring 15 goals and becoming the sixth highest scorer in the league last season.”
A video reel of Taiwo Awoniyi’s performances for Union Berlin was also posted on the club’s Twitter page.
Awoniyi scored 25 times in 65 appearances for the club in two seasons.
Nottingham Forest will pay £17m for the services of the Nigerian striker while Liverpool, his former club will get 10% of the fee.
