The Registrar of the National Examination Council, (NECO), Professor Godswill Obioma has been killed at his residence in Minna Niger state by unknown gunmen on Monday night.
His wife, Mrs. Obioma who spoke to Peoples Gazette on the telephone said the unknown gunmen strangulated him to death in their house without taking anything.
She also confirmed that her husband recently returned to Minna from a trip to Abuja before the unfortunate incident happened.
Godswill Obioma was appointed the head of the examination body less than a year ago and reports indicate that there have been attempts to remove him from office.
Mr. Obioma is aged 65 and hails from Abia State.
His death comes two days after a sect of unknown gunmen killed Ahmed Gulak, a former Presidential aide to Goodluck Jonathan.
