Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has agreed to join English Premier League Fulham on a long-term deal 12 months after signing for Ajax.
European football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Fulham and Ajax have agreed on a fee in the region of €21m for the versatile defender.
Reports also revealed that the player will sign his contract with the London club next week.
Calvin Bassey joined the former Dutch champions from Glasgow Rangers in the summer of 2022 for €23m on the back of two years of sistent performances for the club.
Bassey was instrumental to Hlasgow Rangers 2021/2022 season as they won the Scottish Premier League and also played in the final of the UEFA Europa League where they lost to Eintracht Frankfurt.
However, the 23-year-old failed to replicate his brilliant form at Ajax Amsterdam as he struggled with form even though he played more than 30 matches across all competitions.
With the signing of the defender, Marco Silva will hope to improve the defensive cavities of his team having conceded 53 goals last season – the second most among the teams that finished in the top 10 of the league.
