By Toju Sote

According to the Guardian, Chelsea have closed in on an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for the transfer of Kai Havertz.

The Blues have been in talks with the German club for Havertz and saw their opening bid of €54m rejected.

Chelsea then submitted a new €80m bid some days ago and Leverkusen are on the verge of accepting the bid.

The deal will see Chelsea pay €80m upfront with an additional €20m as add-ons which will make Havertz the most expensive German footballer in history.

Havertz plays a no.10 role and will be the latest addition to Stamford Bridge after the capture of Timo Werner and Hakym Ziyech.

The Blues are also on the verge of signing Thiago Silva while Ben Chillwell is also expected to undergo a medical with the club.
