Rotgak Audu, a student from Kasuwan Nama, Jos, got sentenced to 16 months in prison on Thursday by an Upper Area Court in Kasuwan Nama for stealing an iPhone , some shirts, and jerseys
The crime was reported to the Anglo, Jos, Police Station on Oct. 18 by the complainant, Longji David, according to the prosecution attorney, Sgt Daniel Longwal.
The prosecutor went on to say that the offender pleaded guilty to the crime throughout the investigation.
He went on to say that while the convict’s two t-shirts and jerseys were retrieved, the iPhone and N1,000 were not.
Longwal went on to say that the crime was in violation of the Plateau Penal Code’s sections 333 and 273 as well as the Northern Nigerian Law.
Mr Lawal Suleiman, the sitting judge, condemned Audu after he pleaded guilty to criminal trespass and stealing and prayed for mercy.
The convict, on the other hand, was given the option of paying a fine of 10,000 by the judge.
According to NAN, he also ordered the convict to pay N22, 000 to compensate the complainant.
