D’Tigers Beat Gabon To Qualify For #FIBAAfrocan Quarter-Finals!

Nigeria men’s national basketball team D’Tigers have qualified for the quarter-finals of the ongoing FIBA Afrocan basketball championship in Angola after a convincing victory over Gabon.

The D’Tigers put the loss against Angola behind them as they showed better coordination of play which led to a 16 point win – their highest margin so far in the tournament.

The first quarter was keenly contested by both sides as it ended 18 points a piece. The D’Tigers initially struggled to make their field goals count as they only recorded 38% while Gabon recorded 53% from their field goals.

However, the D’Tigers came back strong in the second quarter as Ogoh Oduadu’s men scored 25 points – the highest in the game while Gabon managed just 14 points. D’Tigers were impressive from the 3-point line as they made 80% of their attempts.

The third quarter was a just like the first. Both teams struggled to covert their shots but ended in favor of the Gabonese men 15-13 points as they reduced they tried to reduce the deficit to a single digit which they did at some point in the game.

Nevertheless, Nigeria put the game beyond the reach of their opponent in the final quarter as they the Gabonese only recorded just 8 points while they scored 15 points.

D’Tigers have now qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition after a 71-55 victory over Gabon. Nigeria will take on Democratic Republic of Congo in the quarter-finals Thursday 13th, July for a place in the semi-finals.
