DTigress upset France to qualify for FIBA Women’s World Cup! 

In what can be described as a dramatic win, Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, DTigress beat World number 5 France to book their spot for the FIBA Women’s World Cup. 

Despite trailing by 17 points in the first quarter, DTigress dug really deep to win the remaining three quarters convincingly by at least 6 points. 

Victoria Macaulay was the star of the night as dropped 19 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assist to wrap up what will go down as one of the biggest upsets in female basketball. 

Chidom Oderah had 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists while Promise Amukamara had 10 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. 

France’s Johannes and Chatereau had 18 and 12 points respectively as they suffer their first loss in the series. 

The match ended 67-65 in favour of Nigeria. 

DTigress have now qualified for the FIBA Women’s World Cup which is scheduled to hold in Australia between September 22nd and October 1st, 2022. 

The team will take on Mali whom they defeated to clinch their third consecutive Afrobasket title, in their last game of the qualifying series on Sunday.
