Super Eagles coach, Austin Eguavoen has heaped praises on striker, Sadiq Umar for his performances for the team.
The UD Almeria forward has been a subject of criticism from fans after a poor outing in his first two games for the team.
However, Austin Eguavoen has explained why the striker struggled in his first two games.
He also praised him for his efforts as scored the first goal as Super Eagles beat Guinea Bissau il2 nil in their final group match.
“I kept talking to him because he’s a player who has played for Roma, he plays in Spain, he’s scoring goals. The first two games he came in and couldn’t find his foot for whatever reason because he’s just coming into a big tournament.”
“May be it was too big. But however, he has performed well. And we just wanted to start him today to see how he reacts, not to come in. And I think he did very well.”
