Enyimba secure record 9th NPFL title with N100m reward!

Enyimba football club are the new Nigeria Professional Football League champion as the 2022/2023 football season comes to an end in befitting fashion at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

The Aba Elephants only needed a draw against fierce rivals, Rivers United (who were looking to defend to defend their title) to become champions after Remo Stars failed to beat Bendel Insurance by more than a goal in the second game of the day.

Ekene Awazie gave Finidi George’s side the lead in the 39th minute as he took advantage of Rivers United’s defensive error to put the ball beyond the reach of Victor Sochima.

Stanley Eguma’side wouldn’t relinquish their title without a fight and they got back into the game three minutes after restart as Nyima Nwangua buried the ball into the back of the net to level the scoreline.

With tension rising from both teams, Enyimba thought they had taken the lead again via Chisom Okereke’s brilliant finish but the assistant referee raised his flag for offside.

Enyimba, once again show forth their exceptional game management plan as they picked the vital point that delivered their record 9th NPFL title which comes with a cash prize of a hundred million naira.

With the title secured, Enyimba are now back on the continent as they have booked their spot in the qualification round of next season’s CAF champions league alongside Remo Stars who finished second on the log.
