Enyimba started their 2024/2025 CAF Confederation Cup campaign with a loss away at Al Masry.
The Aba Elephants lost 2-0 to the Egyptian side in Group D opener at the Suez Stadium on Wednesday evening.
A brace from Mahmoud Hamada – a goal in each half made the diffeence on the night for the home side.
The game was somewhat keenly contested stats-wise as both sides created decent goalscoring chances.
However, Al Masry were slightly better as had 6 shots and converted 2 while Enyimba created 3 but converted none.
Al Masry’s superior quality prevailed over Enyimba as the Egyptians secured three points on the night.
The loss put Enyimba rick-bottom of the Group D as Zamalek and Black Bull clash in the other group fixture.
Enyimba’s last outing in the competition was in 2021 where they crashed out in the quarter-finals.
