Falcons Flyover Lionesses In First Of Two-part Friendlies

The Super Falcons of Nigeria emerged victorious over the Lionesses of Senegal in the first of a two-series friendly.

Remo Stars’ home ground in Ikenne, Southwest Nigeria, hosted the 10-time African Champions and their guests on a sunny Friday afternoon.

Two returnees got on the scoresheet for Nigeria as they secured a 2-1 win over the visitors, with both goals scored in the first half.

Asisat Oshoala and Oyedupe Toni Payne gave the Super Falcons a 2-0 lead into the halftime break after a dominant display.

Oshoala scored from the penalty spot to give Nigeria the lead in the 32nd minute, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Toni Payne doubled the lead with a shot into the far corner after controlling a well-timed cross in the box.

Sokhana Pene reduced the deficit late in the game as Nigeria sealed a 2-1.

Nigeria will host the Lionesses again on Monday in the “return fixture” as both teams prepare for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations next month.
