FG announces domestic flight resumption from July 8th

Domestic flights will resume across the country on Wednesday, July 8th according to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The confirmation was through Hadi Sirika the Minister of Aviation.

Due to the deadly Coronavirus outbreak, Airports across the country have been closed since March due to an enforced lockdown.

In a statement by the ministry, the airports would gradually reopen starting with Lagos and Abuja on July 8, on July 11th Kano, Port Harcourt, Owerri, and Maiduguri airports would resume with others across the country to commence operations from July 15th.

Despite the dates set for Domestic flights announced there is no news as tow international flights will commence.

The statement by the ministry of aviation said,  ”The flights will commence with the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja and the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.

“The Port Harcourt Owerri and Maiduguri airports will reopen to flights on the 11th of July, while other airports across the country will join on the 15th of July.

“Passengers looking to travel out of the country will have to wait a bit longer as the dates for the restart of international flights into and out of the country will be announced later.

“Passengers are highly advised to follow all the safety guidelines and protocols put in place to ensure that the airports don’t become channels of infection for the dreaded coronavirus.”

The Minister also took to his official Twitter account to give additional information, he said, “I am glad to announce that Abuja & Lagos airports will resume domestic operations on the 8th of July, 2020. Kano, Port Harcourt, Owerri & Maiduguri to resume on the 11th. Other airports on the 15th. Date for international to be announced in due course. Bear with us, please.”
