Finidi George reveals why he picked Coach Yemi Daniel as First Assistant

Head of Enyimba football club, Finidi George has revealed why he picked coach Yemi Daniel as his first assistant coach at the Aba-based club while heaping praises on the former Magate fc, MFM fc, Vandrezzer fc coach.

The former Super Eagles player, in a recent chat with Elegbete TV said his first assistant is very knowledgeable about football, the Nigerian league as well as its players.

Coach Finidi George revealed that he has always wanted to work with Yemi Daniel since he joined Enyimba two seasons ago but the club couldn’t make the deal happen.

However, the club was able to sign him as his first assistant as they won a record 9th Nigeria Premier League title with 100 million naira cash prize in the just concluded season.

“When Enyimba signed me in my first season, I wanted Yema, but it was difficult, but my idea from the beginning was to bring him in and knowing how vibrant he is, I wanted us to work together. Despite his youthfulness, he has vast experience in the League and knows the players and he is a very good coach. We had spoken at length, but other coaches on the ground didn’t make that possible in the first season.

“Coming into the second season, I stressed on it, and it eventually happened. I needed someone who we think football alike. Yema‘s knowledge is top notch. He always challenged me, put me on my toes and wasn’t scared to be expressive and the work we both did together is visible to see.”

Enyimba will be looking to win N25m cash prize as they contend with other 7 clubs in the finals of the Naija Super 8 off-season football competition scheduled between 7th-16th of July at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena – where they were crowned league champions on the 12th of June.
