Like Independence Day, the 20th day of October has become a memorable day in the history of Nigeria given the events of the #LekkiMassacre.
It has been 150 days since men of the Nigerian Army opened fire on innocent #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Tollgate.
Protests, like a Tsunami, had earlier spread across major parts of the country for days as the citizens especially the youths demand the abolishment of a police unit notorious for brutality, dehumanisation as well as an end to bad governance in the country.
In the aftermath of the #LekkiMassacre which the Nigerian Army denied despite video evidence on social media, international news platform, CNN published an exclusive report detailing the incident with regards to the type of bullets that were used by the Nigerian Army.
The Lagos State Government also set up a Judicial Panel of Inquiry to hear cases of police brutality as well as the allegations of the Army for involvement in the #LekkiMassacre.
The Army claimed that its men only fired shots into the air to send the protesters away from the scene after a curfew was announced by the Lagos State Government some few hours to the incident.
However, to date, no one has been persecuted neither have answers been found to the following questions;
1. Who gave the order to remove the CCTV cameras at the Lekki Tollgate hours before the #LekkiMassacre
2. Who gave men of the Nigerian Army to use firearms at the scene?
Sadly, in as much as gunshots were fired, bullet shells recovered, bloodstains seen, testimonies by survivors according to reports by eyewitnesses and several videos obtained online, some Nigerians as well as the Nigerian Government still believe that the October 20 #LekkiMassacre is a Farce.
